Our God has been so gracious to us! We find in his Holy word we are told to sell our possessions and give to the poor (Matthew 19:21), to have a heart for the widow and orphans (James 1:27) and to worship the Lord our God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:24). During our travels, we were witness to the need that is near and far. From growing food pantry needs, to tackling homelessness in our region, to sharing the gospel with those that do not know that hope has a name (1 Peter 1:3-6).

 

Our neighbors are crying out for help. 

 

We have been lead to steward the resources that we have to tackle these issues as they come, to the best of our ability with the gifts and talents the Lord has provided. 

 

We’ve broken them down into four categories, local, regional, national, and global mission projects, each with distinct needs and all building off of each other.

 

The Upper Room is a unique space to reach the unreached, we believe deeply in embodying the teachings of Christ, using the teachings from Mark 16:15 to help us continue until every knee shall bow. "And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation." Mark 16:15 NRSV.

 

As an organization, The Upper Room has committed to donating 20% of profits to this fund monthly, and we distribute accordingly, as our neighbors have need (Acts 2:45). Since the inception of this project, we have donated 420+ pounds of clothing to organizations who directly clothe our neighbors in need and have been able to financially support other mission based projects.

 

The Kingdom work is in our backyard, and the “Love Thy Neighbor” Mission Fund is an attempt to continue to steward resources in a way that builds up the Kingdom and it’s people while we continue on our greater mission of “making Jesus known to the nations.”
